The theme for the day will be "Practical and Effective Responses to Child Sexual Exploitation" and will address the recommendations of the new National Action Plan.
Tim Loughton, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Children and Families, will give a keynote address followed by a question and answer session. Speakers will focus on practical interventions that help young people, parents and carers, and professionals to both prevent and stop this type of sexual abuse. We will also explore proven strategies for tackling the perpetrators, including deterrence, investigation, disruption and prosecution.

This course is aimed at all professionals working with children, young people and families and it will be particularly valuable for those with responsibilities for child protection or safeguarding.
Content includes: definitions, indicators, grooming tactics, interventions, communicating concerns, improving multi-agency working, vulnerability, sex offence and trafficking law, judging harm levels, complex cases, building trust and engagement with young people, emergency action and support resources. Following the success of our "train the teacher" one-day courses for professionals working directly with children and young people, we are pleased to announce a seried of new dates for 2012.
The course is targeted at PSHE teachers, Youth Workers, YOT's and CSE Project Workers with a direct role in helping young people to develop an awareness of safe and healthy sexual relationships.
